Melissa Payne RMT, Certified Foot Reflexologist, Level 2 Reiki
In 2007, I graduated with
honours from the Registered Massage Therapy program at Elmcrest College
of Applied Health Sciences and Spa Management. Prior to this, in 2004
I became a Certified Foot Reflexologist through the Ontario College
of Reflexology.
After completing my BA at
York University for Theatre in 2004, I knew I hadn't found the
right path. My interest in becoming an RMT really began while
completing my reflexology certification. I was intrigued by the
anatomy and function of the body and knew I had to learn more.
Once I started massaging, I felt like I had found the missing piece.
I have personally experienced the healing power of massage and chiropractic
care, and my life has been positively changed by the effects of
these therapies. I strive to provide my clients with the same
positive experience.
My personalized approach
reflects my belief that massage can be used as a positive tool to emotionally
and physically increase an overall sense of health and wellness. Providing
a unique and individualized approach to every assessment and treatment,
I believe in working with my clients to help them achieve their healing
goals. I believe that healing is an active process and I encourage
my clients to participate through "homework," such as hydrotherapy,
stretching and strengthening exercises and stress reduction.
In my experience providing
labour support, I have seen the positive effects of massage therapy
for the physical demands of pregnancy and to aid in the changes taking
place before, during and after labour. Understanding that this
is a very intimate experience, I believe in working with each client
to establish a plan, ensuring individual needs can be met during this
personal time.
I have a strong passion for
learning, and am always looking to improve upon my skills as a healthcare
provider. I am constantly reading and researching to add to my
knowledge and I tutor anatomy to colleagues and massage students. I
recently completed my Level 2 Reiki, a type of energy work, and I hope
to progress to become a Reiki Master. As well I have begun
the process to become a Certified Doula with DONA (Doula Organization
of North America) to ensure that my pregnant clients will receive the
highest possible standards of care.
I provide Swedish massage
techniques, including hydrotherapy for relaxation and therapeutic purposes.

I have made my home in the
