Dr. Danielle Southerst
Dr. Danielle Southerst discovered chiropractic after obtaining her Honors Bachelor of Science degree at Queen’s University. It was during a break from the academic world when she was offered a job opportunity as a chiropractic assistant in her home town of St. Thomas, Ontario. Through the thoughtful mentorship of some very gifted chiropractors, she quickly learned how valuable a chiropractor can be to one’s health care and her passion for the profession began to surface. She completed her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated summa cum laude with clinic honors. During her formal chiropractic education, Dr. Southerst fully realized her passion not only for the chiropractic care of patients, but for chiropractic research. Her new-found interest in research and education prompted her to continue her studies and complete a graduate program in Chiropractic Clinical Sciences. She is currently working toward fulfilling the requirements of the College of Chiropractic Sciences in hopes of obtaining her Fellowship designation. The graduate program has provided Dr. Southerst with advanced clinical skills in diagnosis and management of complex cases as well as a strong background in research and critical appraisal of chiropractic literature. She is continually adding to her clinical knowledge by remaining current within literature on the diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the neuro-musculoskeletal system. She has aspirations to continue to contribute to chiropractic literature through future research endeavours. Dr. Southerst’s clinical placements allowed her to practice in unique environments where emphasis was placed on interprofessional collaboration. She has developed a strong sense of commitment to interdisciplinary management of her patients and believes that this model of care is extremely beneficial for her patients.
